TikTok’s love affair with banana-infused coffee is showing no signs of slowing down and according to recent social media data, searches for “banana bread lattes” have spiked 36 percent year-over-year, while “banana matcha lattes” have surged 78 percent over the past 12 months.
Califia Farms, which surpassed $500 million in annual revenue last year, is officially moving to capitalize on this trend. The company has fast-tracked the development of two new banana-themed products including a ready-to-drink banana crème almond milk latte and an organic banana crème almond milk coffee creamer and are bringing them to market in just six months. This is a notably accelerated timeline for the brand, which typically requires 9 to 12 months to formulate and package new SKUs.

Banana took over the Summer Fancy Food Show this year appearing in milk, powders, chips and granolas and even coffee chains Starbucks, Dunkin and Dutch Bros have all added banana items to their menus. Unlike pumpkin spice which disappears every winter, banana really has no season which will be the real test of whether this trend will have long-term appeal.
Of course, vegans were already here first. Mooala Original Banana Milk has had a cult following for nearly a decade and homemade banana milk recipes consisting of just bananas and water blended together have been fueling banana matcha drinks content on vegan food blogs long before this became a viral trend. Forager Project also just released a banana bread creamer in stores.
The new Califia Farms Banana Crème products are hitting shelves later this summer with the creamer slated to be available at Kroger, Albertsons, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Publix and Walmart and the ready to drink latte at Kroger, Sprouts, and Whole Foods. Both items have a suggested retail price of $6.49.
