In 2026 I was named Favorite Vegan Instagrammer in the VegNews Veggie Awards, one of the most recognized honors in the plant-based space. It was a full-circle moment for a platform I launched in 2018 simply to share what I was finding on store shelves.
My Vegan Journey
I’ve been vegan since 1996, long before grocery store shelves were filled with plant-based everything. Back then it meant reading every label, getting creative in the kitchen, and building community the old-school way. That long-term perspective still shapes everything I share today.
I’ve also been baking since I was a kid and nearly pursued it professionally. Recipe development is something I take seriously, and the recipes here are tested, refined, and built on decades of experience in a vegan kitchen.
Why Big Box Vegan Exists
When I started Big Box Vegan in 2018, I noticed something missing. There were beautiful vegan recipes online but not many people talking about what was actually happening in stores. New launches, discontinued favorites, hidden gems at mainstream retailers and accidentally vegan finds hiding in plain sight was something not many were talking about, so I started posting it.
Since then, Big Box Vegan has grown into a trusted source for breaking vegan product news, grocery store finds and trend spotting, honest updates on launches and discontinuations, industry shifts and brand changes, and tested recipes that feel doable for anyone.
If there’s a new plant-based product hitting shelves I’m probably talking about it, and if something disappears I’m probably investigating it.
