No whey! Reese’s Peanut Butter Baking Chips have been reformulated to be dairy-free and also kosher pareve! Yes, the beloved baking staple has dropped the whey (milk) previously found in its recipe, opening up cookie doughs, brownies, and pancakes to a wider audience without sacrificing that iconic Reese’s flavor.
What changed?
Now includes: sugar, partially defatted peanuts, hydrogenated vegetable oil (palm kernel & soybean), corn syrup solids, plus less than 2% of: palm kernel oil, salt, lecithin (soy), vanillin (artificial flavor). Allergens: Peanuts, Soy.
Previously included: partially defatted peanuts, sugar, hydrogenated vegetable oil (palm kernel & soybean), corn syrup solids, dextrose, reduced protein whey (milk), plus <2% of palm kernel oil, salt, vanillin, lecithin. Allergens: Milk, Peanuts, Soy.
That means milk has been removed, transforming what was once a dairy-containing (OU-D) chip into a non-dairy, kosher pareve (OU) product a meaningful change for consumers with dairy allergies, lactose intolerance, or those following a kosher parve diet.

The updated ingredients have already shown up on Hershey’s website as manufacturers often quietly do without making a huge announcement. Though production now uses the new formula, older packages still containing milk may be on shelves until they’re sold through. Always check your package’s ingredient list to be sure.
Why it matters:
- More inclusive baking: Now more folks can enjoy the sweet, peanut buttery goodness without checking for milk.
- Kosher flexibility: The shift to kosher pareve broadens use within dairy and meat-mixed menus and recipes.
- Quiet upgrade: The switch seems to have been made without a press blitz so far as Hershey likely opted for a soft rollout to avoid unsettling loyal bakers.
This is a major upgrade for inclusive baking as they’re now dairy-free and kosher pareve. Whether you’re dairy-intolerant, allergy-conscious, or just curious about the label change, this reformulation opens new doors in the kitchen hopefully for you!
Stay tuned, maybe Reese’s will make this somewhere official soon, but for now, it’s a delicious win for more inclusive snacking.
