End of an Era: Yves Veggie Cuisine to Shut Down

It’s the end of the road for one of the longest-standing names in the plant-based aisle. Yves Veggie Cuisine, a pioneer in veggie meats and deli slices, have confirmed in recent DMs on social media that it is closing down operations.

For decades, Yves products were a staple in grocery stores across North America. Long before the rise of Impossible and Beyond, Yves was offering veggie dogs, ground round, burgers, and meatless deli slices that made it easier for vegetarians and vegans to put plant-based meals on the table. For many of us, Yves was the “gateway brand” that showed just how versatile plant-based eating could be.

So, if you spot Yves products on shelves in the coming weeks, it may be your last chance to grab them. Whether it’s their veggie dogs, falafel, or those classic turkey-style deli slices, now might be the time to stock up for one final taste of this plant-based pioneer.

Aldi USA Releases New Oat Milk Latte Single Serve Coffee Cups

I spotted new Aldi brand Barissimo K-Cup style oat milk latte cups yesterday at my local store I have not seen before. I saw two flavors: brown sugar and spiced (not sure what this flavor profile might be but could be cinnamon forward or even pumpkin or gingerbread spiced). Check out the ingredients below but they are CRC Kosher certified and they’ve listed the triglycerides are coconut derived.

These oat milk–based lattes come in convenient coffee pod form, designed for use with single-serve brewers. It’s a first-of-its-kind release for Aldi, giving plant-based coffee drinkers an easy, dairy-free option that goes straight from pod to mug. No need to add creamer or froth separately, everything you need is already in the cup.

The new single-serve cups are rolling out as a limited-time Aldi Find, so availability may vary by store and region. As with most Aldi launches, once they’re gone, they may not return, so if you’re curious to try them, it’s worth grabbing a box or two while you can. Retail is $4.99 for a 12-pack.

Kroger to lay off 1,000 corporate employees

In a strategic shake-up revealed on August 26, 2025, Kroger announced it will be laying off 1,000 corporate administrative staff. Importantly, this reduction does not affect employees working in stores, manufacturing plants, or distribution centers as those roles remain unaffected.

In an internal memo, Interim CEO Ron Sargent emphasized the need to “simplify the organization, shift resources closer to our customers, and focus on work that creates the most value.”

This restructuring follows earlier announcements in June to close about 60 underperforming stores over an 18-month period and reflects Kroger’s efforts to reset its operations following the collapse of its proposed $25 billion merger with Albertsons.

This move marks yet another step in Kroger’s ongoing effort to streamline its operations. After the failed merger with Albertsons, modernization and cost-management have become key focal points for the grocer. These layoffs represent one of several tactical decisions Kroger has made recently to sharpen its financial and operational strategy.
