As a leading retailer who claims to sell the most organic foods in the country, Costco is lacking in offering a consistent vegan option in their food courts. Things have come and gone in recent years, but I am asking that Costco offer a vegan version of their iconic hot dog to patrons. Plant-based eating is here to stay, and in 2020 it’s clear their vision should be to include a quick and easy meal option at their U.S. locations.
Already having retail relationships with both Field Roast and Beyond Meat, they should be able to offer a version of a hot dog easily. I know the price will not compare to their existing meat version, but plant-based eaters are used to paying a bit more for the options they seek.
So many food service chains are adding vegan options to their menus in record numbers. Fast food establishments are taking notice and have started to jump on the trend enticing plant based or flexitarian eaters to dine at their restaurants. Ikea has a vegan hot dog option, and the Impossible Foods burger has been so successful for Burger King that they’re adding more plant based options soon. It’s time for Costco to join the revolution and add a permanent item to their line up! The future is vegan!
