If your holiday plans involve good food but you’re not a fan of baking, store-bought vegan pies may be a solution. From pumpkin to apple, there are lots of plant-based dessert options out there and many of them are just a grocery store away. Here are some vegan-friendly pies you can pick up this holiday season from national big box stores across the U.S. (including the triumphant return of a fan-fave —more info after the jump), but this is not an exhaustive list of everything available everywhere. There are many other local grocery chains and vegan bakeries or restaurants you can support if you have them nearby you which I always recommend if convenient and in your budget.

🍎 The return of Costco’s lattice apple pie for the 2025 holiday season!
It’s official. Costco’s lattice-top apple pie seems to be back as it’s already been spotted in some regions! This is the same accidentally vegan version that disappeared a while back when it was replaced by their double-crust apple pie which contains dairy. The returning lattice pie only lists wheat as an allergen and no dairy or eggs. The SKU number is 1963060, so you can call your local warehouse or ask at the bakery in-store to check availability. My store said they should be baking them off later this week and confirmed it was the version that only contains wheat, but things can vary regionally, so always double-check the ingredient label at your location. They will hopefully be available nationwide, but I have not confirmed this information and I was told a lot of stores still have many double crust pies to bake off before offering the lattice option so ask your local stores bakery team for information.

🥧 Other Vegan Pie Finds by Store
Whole Foods Market has their own Vegan Pumpkin Pie in the bakery section and some stores may have Wholly Wholesome Dairy-Free Pumpkin Pies in the freezer aisle. The Whole Foods bakery pumpkin pie has not gotten great reviews since changing their recipe a few years ago and I don’t know if that’s changed for 2025 so it’s possible they might let you sample it if you ask nicely at the bakery. The in-house pies may also be available for grab and go but can also be ordered from their holiday catering menu online or in-store to guarantee you’ll get it for the holidays.

Sprouts Farmers Market offers vegan-friendly Apple and Pumpkin pies and often carries Raised Gluten Free pies, which are both vegan and gluten-free and are a great option for those with multiple dietary needs. Again, these might be in-store to grand and go but can also be ordered. I’ve been told some Sprouts pies can be made vegan friendly without the egg wash used on top as the rest of the ingredients are suitable for vegans so ask at your local store if this is a possibility.

Many of Walmart’s plain fruit pies (like apple or cherry) are accidentally vegan, meaning they contain no dairy or eggs. Always check labels, but they’re an affordable and easy holiday staple.

Several of Marie Callender’s frozen fruit pies like Apple, Dutch Apple, Cherry, and Razzleberry, are accidentally vegan. Just steer clear of the cream or custard pies.

Raised Gluten Free brand is another option if you want something both vegan and gluten-free. Their Pumpkin, Apple, Cranberry Apple, Strawberry Rhubarb, and Chocolate Silk pies are all plant-based and available at Sprouts, Fresh Thyme, and many natural grocery stores.

Wholly Wholesome brand offers Dairy-Free Pumpkin Pie and vegan pie crusts (found at Whole Foods and many natural grocers) and are perfect for semi-homemade dessert lovers who still want to keep things simple.

Sam’s Club’s Member’s Mark Honeycrisp Apple Lattice Pie is also “vegan-friendly” in most regions. Ingredients can differ by supplier though, so be sure to confirm before you purchase.

Easy Vegan Dessert Tips
- Add a vegan whipped topping or coconut cream for that bakery-perfect finish. Some brands in tubs include So Delicious CocoWhip, Truwhip vegan topping and Whole Foods has one as well. Some in cans include Reddiwip, Gay Lea and Whipt and some store brands (like Aldi). You can also whip some yourself from scratch using Country Crock, Silk or Califia heavy whipping creams.
- Offer a mix of flavors! pumpkin for tradition, apple for nostalgia or chocolate for indulgence.
- Buy early! Vegan-friendly pies tend to sell out fast once the holidays hit full swing or order ahead from stores that have them available from their catering menus.
No matter how or where you celebrate, these store-bought vegan pies make dessert easy, inclusive, and stress-free. Just slice, serve, and enjoy with no oven marathon required. Again, this is not a complete list of everything available out there but these are some of the most popular options at stores across the country. Have a happy and wonderful holiday season!
