Hi, I’m Kreg, the voice behind Big Box Vegan, a platform I launched in 2018 to share breaking vegan news, exciting plant-based product finds, and fun, accessible recipes that make vegan living feel realistic and joyful.
But my vegan journey didn’t begin in 2018.
I’ve been vegan since 1996, long before grocery store shelves were filled with oat milk and plant-based everything. Back then, being vegan meant reading labels carefully, getting creative in the kitchen, and building community the old-school way. That long-term perspective still shapes how I approach what I share today.
Why Big Box Vegan Exists
When I started Big Box Vegan, I noticed something missing.
There were beautiful vegan recipes online, but not as many people talking about what was actually happening in stores. New launches. Discontinued favorites. Reformulations. Limited releases. Hidden gems at mainstream retailers.
So I started covering it.
Since 2018, Big Box Vegan has grown into a trusted source for:
• Breaking vegan product news
• Grocery store finds and trend spotting
• Honest updates on launches and discontinuations
• Industry shifts and brand changes
• Accessible vegan recipes that feel doable
If there’s a new plant-based product hitting shelves, I’m probably talking about it. If something disappears, I’m probably investigating it.
My goal is simple: make vegan living informed, exciting, and approachable without gatekeeping or overwhelming.
My Creative Background
Outside of Big Box Vegan, I’m a singer-songwriter and graphic designer based in Sarasota, Florida.
Over the years, I’ve played in several bands, including one that was signed to Echo/Chrysalis Records in the UK. Music has always been a creative anchor for me and deeply influences how I tell stories and build connection.
Graphic design is another part of my professional life, shaping how I communicate visually and build brand identity. That background naturally informs the way Big Box Vegan looks and feels, clean, direct, and intentional.
Creativity has always been at the center of what I do, whether that’s writing a song, designing a visual identity, or breaking down complex product updates in a way that’s easy to understand.
A Full Circle Moment
Early on, VegNews was one of the first major publications to amplify my work. That support meant a great deal.
So being nominated for Favorite Vegan Instagrammer in the 2026 Veggie Awards feels like a true full-circle moment, and a reflection of the community that has grown around Big Box Vegan since 2018.
