Hi, I’m Kreg Sterns, the voice behind Big Box Vegan, a space where I share vegan recipes, comfort food favorites, and vegan news you need to know about. You might know me from my popular Instagram account of the same name, where I track down the latest and greatest vegan products so you don’t have to.

But beyond spotting vegan snacks in the wild, I’ve spent a lifetime in the kitchen. I’ve been fully vegan since 1994, but my love of food started long before that at five years old, standing on a stool next to my Polish grandmother and great aunts, learning the magic of cooking and baking from scratch. I’ve always been fascinated by the science of baking and the art of making food that brings people together.

Before Big Box Vegan, life took me on a few adventures including living in London in the mid-’90s, where I recorded and toured with my indie rock band signed to a British label. The UK was surprisingly ahead of the curve when it came to vegan food, and it was there that I made the leap from vegetarian to fully vegan which was a decision I’ve never regretted.

Since 1999, I’ve called Sarasota, Florida home. When I’m not developing recipes or hunting for new vegan finds, you’ll probably find me enjoying the outdoors, checking out local vegan eats, or working on creative projects.

My reasons for being vegan are many: the animals, the planet, and my own health. But I also believe in progress over perfection. Whether you’re vegan, vegan-curious, or just trying to add more plant-based meals into your life, you’re welcome here.

On this blog, you’ll find tried-and-true recipes that put a vegan twist on classic dishes that are comforting, familiar, and so good no one will believe they’re plant-based. My goal is simple: to make vegan food approachable, satisfying, and absolutely delicious.
